Next Gourmet Table at Shangri-La 8th May 2009

Gourmet Table Chiang Mai

Gourmet Table
Gentlemen

After some relaxing days in Switzerland, with lots of skiing and snowboarding, we returned back to the hotter part of the Globe.

Meanwhile I am in the midst of preparing the next Gourmet Dinner, which will take place next Friday 8th May at the Shangri-La Hotel. (Please note the 8th is a Public Holiday). I really hope this does not interfere with other arrangements. However, the date will never be right for everybody.

As indicated in my previous mail I would like to discuss some of the rules and regulations of the Gourmet Table during our next dinner.

· More Ladies nights
· Meet every second month
· Fines, (Smoking, Hand-phone, Language, Dress code)
· Various

On the web-page of our Club you will always find:
· the hotel rating results
· comments about food and beverage
· latest news, where and when we meet
· So please check: http://gourmet-table-cm.blogspot.com

Our first Gourmet Table in the Meridien Hotel was in the opinion of all who joined a very big success. Chef Gustavo and his crew did a marvelous job together with Urs and the service team. Something difficult to top. But let’s see.

Golden Whitehead, the Food & Beverage Manager and previous Executive Chef of the hotel promised me that he will prepare outstanding food with excellent wines, something to remember. Golden, together with his team are waiting to spoil us.

Shangri-La Hotel one of the best, if not THE best Hotel-chain in Asia is waiting for us:

Cancel event at the Shangri-La

Gourmet Table Chiang Mai

From: Andy Mannhart
Date: Tuesday, March 10, 2009

Gentlemen
Well, I only got 5 replies to my last mail informing you about our next Gourmet Table in the Shangri-La Hotel.
2 of the replies where positive only, therefore, I had no alternative then to cancel the Friday 13th March event.

I informed Mr. Golden, the Food & Beverage Manager, who would have prepared another memorable and extraordinary menu with excellent wines, that I have to cancel the dinner.

As I am out of town in April, I would give our Gourmet Table another try on Friday, 8th May 2009, again at the Shangri-La. More information will follow about two week prior to the event.

I also have made a “Blog” where you can get the latest information on the Gourmet Table as well as the Menus and pictures from the previous events, please have a look under http://gourmet-table-cm.blogspot.com/

After our great evening at the Meridien Hotel I was somehow convinced that this Gourmet Table would be a pleasant different alternative to our daily life here in CM. Now, probably I am wrong.

I am sorry for these two persons who would have loved to join this Friday. Sorry. Hopefully there will be a next time.

Now, I wish you all a good and successful week. Enjoy the still cool nights.

With culinary greetings

Next Gourmet Table at the Shangri-La Hotel on the 13th March 2009

Gourmet Table Chiang Mai

From: Andy Mannhart
Date: Thursday, February 26, 2009

Gentlemen
What an enjoyable evening, our first Gourmet Table in the Meridien Hotel. In my opinion a big success. Something you may all agree, will be hard to top! A big compliment goes once again to Chef Gustavo and Urs and their team for a job very well done.

During our first table I had the chance to introduce some of the rules and regulations of the Gourmet Table. Please note, my comments are not carved in stone and can always be discussed and looked at whenever necessary. I was pleased to note that Adrian and Hans came up with interesting additional points.
Adrian mentioned that we should invite our ladies more often, maybe 2 or 3 times a year, not only once as suggested by me.

Hans pointed out that we should meet only every second month, not every month as indicated by me. I guess this would make the “Gourmet Table” even more exclusive.

Please let us discuss above points during our next Gourmet Table on the 13th March. Should you have other ideas or points bring them up during the next event.

Shangri-La Hotel

Our next Gourmet Table will be in one of THE leading Hotel chains in the world, the Shangri-La Hotel Chiang Mai. Mr. Golden Whitehead, Food & Beverage Manager, a previous Executive Chef, assured me that he will arrange another memorable Gourmet-evening with fine wines for us.

IMPORTANT:
Due to the special venue, The Gourmet Table is limited to max. 8 persons. If you like to join, book early. First come first serve.

Rules and Regulations

I would like to establish a “Gourmet Table” Chiang Mai.
The objective is simple and clear.

To enjoy once a month’s (for example, every second Friday) a gourmet meal with good wines in one of the top hotels or restaurants in and around town. Together with colleagues who enjoy the same interest.

I would coordinate with the Executive Chef of the Hotels to arrange a set dinner, with the Hotel Manager or Food and Beverage Manager the wines and venue.

This is an all men event except once a year where I would organizes an evening with our ladies.

I think we can be a good group of about (eventually) 8 – 12 persons, just the right size to fill a table. Guests are always most welcome.

Dress code is elegant but casual. (No shorts and slippers)

A dinner with wines will be around Bath 3’000.

At the end of the dinner there will be a Food and Wine critique together with the Executive Chef and Food & Beverage Manager.

Over more rules and regulations like,
- Who can become a member of the “Gourmet Table” Chiang Mai.
- Fines for late comers, hand-phone use during the event and not correct dress code
- Contribution to a Charity organization
- others

can be discussed during the 1st Gourmet Table Chiang Mai on the 13th February 2009.

During my time in Shanghai I established the “Swiss Table” Shanghai, which runes ever since very successfully.

Should you be interested and enjoy good food and wines send me a mail. am@the-m-place.com

If you know others who would like to join please let me know so I can follow up with a mail.
Thank you very much.

Now I am looking forward to hearing from and remain with best
